• Lake of the Forest is a gated community of 163 homes situated around a 40-acre lake and on winding roads up three levels on two sides.  We are located on Kansas highway 32 between Edwardsville and Bonner Springs and within a few miles of either I-435 or I-70.  Downtown Kansas City, MO, the greater Kansas City metro area and the airport as well as Lawrence, Leavenworth and Olathe, KS can be reached in 30 to 45 minutes.   Our residents range in age from the 90's to newborn and we boast several second and third generation families.  Bonner Springs school buses pick up and deliver Lake children to the clubhouse parking lot.

Our historic clubhouse is the center of many activities at Lake Forest.  Most clubs and groups hold their meetings here, several dances are held in the ballroom each year, porch suppers are favorite events, holiday activities, porch sitting and a clubroom in the downstairs that is host to Happy Hour every Friday evening are just a few of the happenings.  In some Lake families second generation weddings are taking place in the clubhouse.  The clubhouse is also home to our own Post Office, one of only a few left in the US, on privately owned property.

We are very proud of our unique, nine hole, sand green, pasture golf course.  In early 2014 the golf course was added to the Register of Historic Kansas Places and the National Register of Historic Places making it the first golf course in Kansas to receive this honor.  Rolling hills, a stream, strategically placed trees, grasses and boulders make this 3021-yard course fun and challenging to play.  Lake Forest members maintain the course and are responsible for its design.  One and two day tournaments are held several times each summer and competition is fierce.  The golf course is home to a Golf Cart Drive-In Movie each year around Fourth of July.  It is also very popular for walkers, dog outings, kite flying and just driving around on a golf cart enjoying the beauty and fresh air.

The lake is the scene of constant activity in warm weather.  Toddlers wade and build sand castles while grown-ups keep a close eye and visit.    During the week, the kids practice for Swim Team, take lessons, hang out with friends and all but live in the water.  The weekend finds everyone in or by the lake.  Sailboats, canoes, paddleboats and floating rafts share space with swimmers.  Fishing from the shore or small boat is fun for all ages.  Fireworks on Fourth of July are shot from the Island giving everyone the best view of the show.
